"Never be limited by other people’s limited imaginations."
Ryann Counce-Barnes M.Ed.
My name is Ryann Counce-Barnes and I am an owner of a family and a group center in an urban area of Milwaukee, WI. My programs have successfully been operating since April 2012 and December 2021. I have a wide range of experience in the field of education and work with children from ages of 6 weeks to 21 years. Over the years, I have worked in the area of child care in family centers, group centers and summer camp programs.
I was employed with Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) for 19 years and I have also worked in the areas of Special Education and School Administration and with students that were over age and under credit in areas of GED and Credit Recovery. In my early years of working with MPS I worked part time in the evening and summer months in both family and group child care centers owned by a close family friend.
I decided to open my family child care center, when I became pregnant with my youngest son. My idea was to open my own program and quit working for MPS, so that I could be home with my newborn baby. My passion for children and my career did not allow me to leave MPS and I kept teaching for ten more years. I finally took a leap of faith and retired from public school teaching in May 2021. In December of 2021, I partnered with my sister in law and opened a small group center serving 30 kids.
My experiences within the child care field have expanded my interests in the area of early child care. I am a member of a few committees and work with other professionals in the field as an advocate and a supporter for them and their business. My plan is to be a voice for providers in my area, to ensure that we are all being treated fair.

I will help children reach the goals listed by having meaningful conversations, incorporating high quality lessons and building positive relationships in my program.”
